Announcements & Updates
1. Funding Call Application due December 20th at 5 pm
2. Orientation Workshop from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm last night

Discussion: Updates on A&R responses on new mats martial arts room
1. Daniel’s comments
  1. Lucy has been in communication with the A&R director
  2. Daniel says that the information about the mats is disappointing as the clubs are not notified about it.
  3. Some updates are that the new mats have not arrived, and the mats are not permanently installed because other clubs also use the space
  4. Mel asks if the new mats have been installed
  5. Lucy explains that the mats have come but they are not going to be installed for mat purposes.
  6. Are these mats large?
  7. It would probably be better to have mats that are portable for it to be easier
  8. The concern is with slippage and lots of movement
  9. We are not sure that SFAC will have a big impact compared to the martial arts clubs
2. Fernanda asks how she could advocate for her club in the SFAC space
  1. Mel explains that clubs need to do their funding proposals and we can talk about it but also the person refrains from being in the conversation for the funding call
  2. Jhertau adds that if clubs need funding right now so you can go to specific colleges or sua SOFA for funding as well as student affairs and success funding

Discussion: Recommending using SSF and Seismic Life Safety Fee Reserve for Bay Tree Bookstore renovation plan

4. 10 Million - 1.4 million seismic life safety fee 10.8 from student life fees
5. There are a lot of factors of why it should be updated
6. There is no other student building that serves
7. More space for students to gather
8. Did the cantu and kzsc know about the move of their space?
9. We have been saving up for a few years to do this and for other buildings are aware of the movement
10. A concern of how it might split up students and funds can be spent to update the SU building
11. It is more of an office space for the big 5
12. Redwood building has their own fund source that has quite a bit of money in it
13. Other student resource centers want their own student hubs in the central parts of campus
14. Some students feel uncomfortable with going to the SUA but having a neutral space for students to go
15. Student union building has its own funds
16. There is a question of the floor layout and the ways that it will serve students

Summer 2024 campus fee levels

5. It depends on how much of the ucsc catalogue is available to provide for students

8. It is probably due to the amount of students as well as used in fall, winter, spring
